To deepen our understanding of volunteering in America and to promote its growth, the Corporation has created a comprehensive new interactive web tool--called Volunteering in America--that presents and analyzes the latest Census Bureau data on volunteer trends and demographics for all 50 states and more than 125 cities. The new website allows visitors to create customizable data sheets on areas of volunteering that interest them most, and contains links to a variety of useful resources.

When Joyce Keeler found herself with time on her hands after retiring as a nurse several years ago, she signed on as an RSVP volunteer and a member of the "SWAT Team" with the Johnson County Volunteer Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
